The Wood River Valley and the literary community lost a patron and friend early Saturday morning. Gary Hunt, owner of Iconoclast Books in Ketchum and Sun Valley, died in cardiac arrest while being LifeFlighted to medical care in Boise following a car accident. Gary was my husband's boss and our friend. Everyone who knew him loved him for his big heart, humor, wit, knowledge and his radiant spirit. He seemed to have read every book on the planet, and remembered every word he had read. I remember Gary for teasing me, making me feel comfortable and even inspiring me in our brief conversations at the Christmas parties he threw for Iconoclast and Rivalbooks.com staff. He was an unfailing optimist, a razor wit, and a generous soul. I told my husband that Gary reminded me of a king--commanding the respect of his subjects out of love. Tyler said, "He was a good king."
