The novel is done
he novel I've been working on for several months is finally finished at 45,000 words. It feels wonderful to have accomplished that feat. Before I wrote Harvest Moon it seemed I would never get to type the words, "The end." Now that I've finished the book, I can't believe it took me so long to do it. Granted, it's a huge undertaking. But when you love writing, it's the most enjoyable kind of work.
My novel is an inspirational romance set in 1909 Soldier, Idaho. Soldier is now all but a ghost town, but then it was a thriving community on the Camas Prairie. Because I love history, I included a lot of period details and local historical flavor. Even though I've covered the news here for about 6 years off and on, writing a fiction work that takes place in this beautiful setting was a thrill. If you've ever been to Fairfield, Idaho, you know what I'm talking about.
The manuscript is currently being considered for publication. Meanwhile, like any writer worth her salt, I'm back to work on the next project. I have to thank a few people for getting me to this point. My mom critiqued my chapters and helped me meet my deadline. Clell, Marilyn, Rebekah and Darla also read scenes or chapters and encouraged me. Thanks to everyone for your prayers, help and encouragement. It means a lot!
