I'm linking to two sewing patterns for baby booties. Both are adorable and pretty easy to sew. Both include an elasticized heel to help keep the slipper on the foot.
Three-seam baby footies: Begin with this one, since it makes it easy to grasp the basic concept. The only downside is that the booties will have a seam inside, where it can rub against baby's feet. If you use flannel fabric and cotton thread, it's not too bad. Baby could also wear socks with the booties.
Reversible fabric baby shoes: This pattern is slightly more complicated, but still quick and easy to sew. It has no seam inside, since the whole is reversible.
